Actually I'm a pretty big fan of this as long as there are also enough cosmetics to unlock by playing. I'd rather have a game as a service with a monetarization model like this than pay2win or pay4time.

I'll just leave my 2cents here. To me buying cosmetics is worthless because I remember unlocking them, that carried some sort of prestige because some were incredibly hard to get. Buying means far less to me.

People complain about skins in online shops, people complain about usefull items in onlineshops to be pay to win, people complain about pay to play if none of these happens, people complain about expensive DLCs and half finished games ... you notice something? You actually made it happen like that with all your complaining. Ofc the Company needs money to keep up the servers and to pay their team. Releaseing tons of DlCs won't be enough to pay for both, so they need another income. Since pay to win items have a heavier impact on the community they make "useless" items. It's more than logical. And btw, are people happy with the skins they bought? Probably, otherwise they wouldn't bought them. So for them, they aren't worthless. And depending on the game, a bought full-camo outfit can be usefull as well.
